Mentoring Roadmaps for Healthy Marriage
Have you ever gone on a trip without a roadmap and gotten lost? Don’t deny it - we all have. You headed out with the general idea of how to get there but then all these “surprises” came up like MapQuest said to take the third right but there isn’t a third right? You probably ended up having to stop and call someone already there for directions and by the time you get there you and your spouse had some heated “discussions” in the car. This can easily be an analogy for how many of us head into marriage. We go into it with a vague idea of where we are going and then all these “surprises” pop up and eventually we have to stop and ask for directions. If this is you then ask yourself the following questions:
1. Do I want my marriage to be the best it can be?
2. Do I believe that we are capable of growing a successful marriage?
3. Would I like to learn from someone who has “been there, done that”?
4. Can I be open to learning new things about marriage?
If you answered “yes” to most of these questions, you would enjoy a mentoring relationship with a mentor couple that has traveled the marriage road that you are now on.
