Parenting

The Creek is pleased to offer a unique study group for expectant parents using Growing Kids God’s Way. This curriculum will prepare parents for the journey as children approach each developmental stage. Each component is centered on five main goals:

  • to raise a generation of children to the glory of God, not the glory of man
  • to provide practical instruction for biblical training and application
  • to instill confidence in parents who participate
  • to look positively toward the teen years
  • to capture the inner attitudes of the hearts and minds of the next generation

Part I: Preparation for Parenting (Birth – 5 months)

This seven-week class provides a responsible and natural infant management plan based on a feed/wake/sleep schedule. This cycle results in a baby sleeping through the night on average between seven and nine weeks.  Creating order in your baby’s day offers stability and contentment for the baby and confident parents.

Part II: The Babyhood Transitions (5 – 12 months)

Child-rearing becomes increasingly complex with new learning and sensory stimulation. This 3-week class encourages parents to stay consistent in the routine of a modified feeding time, wake time, and naptime.

Part III: Preparation for the Toddler Years (12 – 18 months)

During this five-week class, parents will learn how to transition smoothly from babyhood to toddlerhood.  Principles, strategies, and step by step guidance for this season of exchanges (baby food for table food; bottle for sippy cup; unsteady steps for strides of confidence) will be covered.

Part IV: The Toddlerhood Transition (18 – 36 months)

Helping parents understand the new skills and behaviors to master during toddlerhood are the focus of this nine-week class. Additionally, each week helps parents gain confidence in their knowledge and ability to make wise decisions. Topics include: the principle of why; toddler conflict; necessity of obedience; and how parents can guide with instruction, motivate with encouragement and establish necessary boundaries through correction.
