The God Who Lives in Us

How many times have you moved from one house/location to another? Do you enjoy it? Why or why not?

What is one thing that stood out to you from this sermon?

Read this quote from A.W. Tozer:

“If the Holy Spirit was withdrawn from the Church today, 95% of what we do would go on and on and no one would know the difference. If the Holy Spirit had been withdrawn from the New Testament Church, 95% of what they did would stop, and everybody would know the difference.”

Do you agree or disagree with Tozer? Why? What are the implications for how church is done if Tozer is right?

How does the Holy Spirit add to the theme of the “presence of God” throughout Scripture?

What is the purpose of having the Holy Spirit live in us?

Gary mentioned that the Holy Spirit is given to us so that we would thrive, not just strive and survive. Which of those words best describes you right now? Are you striving, surviving, or thriving? How might you invite the Holy Spirit into stressful or terse situations?

Apply Tozer’s quote from above to your own life. Do you rely on the Holy Spirit each moment of each day or do you mostly rely on yourself?

What are ways you can increase your dependence on the Spirit of God?

How does knowing that the Spirit is just like Jesus and that Jesus sent the Spirit as a Helper make you feel about navigating life?

How has the Holy Spirit changed how you think, act, and live?

What are areas in your life that you need to continue to “be filled with the Spirit?”

This week, continue to pray as a group for an ever-increasing awareness of the Holy Spirit’s presence in and among you.

  1. Attend Welcome to the Creek! This is a place where you can find out more information about who we are as a church. This experience occurs the 1st and 3rd weekend of every month in South Room 2 during the 11:00 service. If you attend Shelby Street, you can make an appointment for a Welcome To The Creek session.
  2. Check out our new sermon series on the Holy Spirit! You can find more resources and some information regarding the topics we will be covering at
