What did you learn from this sermon? What deepened your faith?
Read Romans 8:1-17.
What does a mind set on Christ look like? How does the mindset of the Spirit contrast with the mindset of the world? In what ways do you see these play out in our world?
How does what Paul writes in Galatians 3:1-4:7 relate to what he says in Romans 8:1-17?
How does the “law of the Spirit” contrast with the “law of sin and death?” Why is the law of the Spirit better?
How does Romans 8:1-17 fit into the larger context of Paul’s argument in Romans?
In your walk with Jesus, do you feel condemned? Where does the feeling of condemnation come from? What do you know about your status?
What was your journey like personally when you began walking according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh?
In what ways is your mindset not the same as Jesus’?
Would you describe your relationship with God as being intimate? Why or why not? What would intimacy with God look like for you?
This week, continue to pray as a group for an ever-increasing awareness of the Holy Spirit’s presence in and among you.
To say the Holy Spirit is mysterious might be an understatement. We hear about the power and the work of the Holy Spirit and sometimes it can leave us scratching our heads. But it doesn’t have to be that way. To go deeper in your relationship with God and others, here are some next steps for you:
- Attend Welcome to the Creek! This is a place where you can find out more information about who we are as a church. This experience occurs the 1st and 3rd weekend of every month in South Room 2 during the 11:00 service. If you attend Shelby Street, you can make an appointment for a Welcome To The Creek session.
- Check out our new sermon series on the Holy Spirit! You can find more resources and some information regarding the topics we will be covering at thecreek.org/godwho.
