What is something you are sold-out to and passionate about (other than Jesus)? Why?

REFLECT

What is something you learned from this sermon? How did this sermon deepen your faith?

Read 2 Timothy 3:1-7.

What is one word or phrase from these verses that stands out to you? Explain why you think these stood out.

Do you think that leaving a legacy of conviction is important in your life? Why or why not?

What does it look like for someone to have deeply held convictions? What does a conviction-less person look like?

Read 1 Thessalonians 1:2-5.

How do you think conviction played a role in the Thessalonians’ acceptance of the gospel? How might your conviction in the Word of God play a role in witnessing to those who do not follow Jesus in your life?

When you look at the life you live, are there any subconscious convictions that you might be holding to? What are they? Are they healthy or unhealthy? Why are they there?

Gary mentioned a quote by A.W. Tozer. He said, “A scared world needs a fearless church.” In your estimation, is the Church fearless or fearful? How would conviction help the church be fearless?

APPLY

What is one conviction you wish you held more strongly? Why?

How can your group help you grow in that conviction?

What are ways that you can continue developing the positive convictions you already hold to in your life? How might you go about lessening the impact of the negative convictions you might have in your life?

PRAY

This week pray for a renewed sense of conviction for yourself, your group, and The Creek to be sold out to Jesus and to hold on to the Word of God.

NEXT STEPS

What we choose to leave behind says a lot about us. We all want our families, friends, and businesses to be secure and stable when we’re gone, so we set up wills, trust funds put all sorts of plans and strategies into place. But how often are we investing into the people, relationships, and decisions that have the potential to last for eternity? Here are some next steps to help you explore what it looks like to leave behind a worthwhile legacy:

To go deeper in your relationship with God and others, here are some next steps for you:

  1. Join us for Welcome to the Creek! This is a place where you can find out more information about who we are as a church. This experience occurs the 1st and 3rd weekend of every month in South Room 2 during the 11am service. If you attend Shelby Street, you can make an appointment for a Welcome to the Creek session.

  2. Visit the Legacy Sermon Resource page for further resources on 2 Timothy.

  3. Check out the Dwell app. This is a new audio Bible app that keeps Scripture in your ears and on your heart. You can download this app on your mobile device. You can get more information about it at dwellapp.io.
