What was your favorite Christmas gift you received as a kid? Why?

REFLECT

How did this sermon deepen your faith? In what ways did this sermon challenge you?

What did this sermon teach you about God? What did it teach you about yourself?

Tom mentioned that it is in God’s nature to give. How have you experienced the generosity of God in your own life?

What do you think is God’s motivation for being generous (see John 3:16 again)? How does knowing God’s heart and intent for humanity shape how you think about God? How does it shape how you think God thinks about you?

How does God’s generosity, motivated by love, shape how you lead a life of generosity? What obstacles do you encounter when you think about becoming more generous

Read Matthew 2:1-2, 11-12. What do the three gifts that the wise men presented to Jesus tell us about who Jesus is?

What does the gift of Jesus mean to you? What would it look like for Jesus to rule over every aspect of your life as King?

APPLY

What is one way you can grow in generosity regarding your time, energy, and finances?

Sometimes is doesn’t feel like God is very generous to us. Is there something going on in your life right now that makes it feel like God is perhaps holding back? If so, what are the circumstances? What do you know to be true about God that you can stand on?

Who is one person you can share the gift of Jesus or begin praying to share Jesus with?

PRAY

This week spend time in prayer reflecting on the Incarnation. What does it mean to you personally? How costly was the gift of Jesus? How does God want you to respond?

NEXT STEPS

What we choose to leave behind says a lot about us. We all want our families, friends, and businesses to be secure and stable when we’re gone, so we set up wills, trust funds put all sorts of plans and strategies into place. But how often are we investing into the people, relationships, and decisions that have the potential to last for eternity? Here are some next steps to help you explore what it looks like to leave behind a worthwhile legacy:

To go deeper in your relationship with God and others, here are some next steps for you:
