Freedom-Week 2

Gary Johnson - Jan 13, 2019

OPEN

Give an example and of something you bought that you thought was the best use of your money and why.

REFLECT

What deepened your faith from this sermon? What challenged or encouraged you?

What thoughts or feelings come to you when you think of money?

What are some mistakes you can make with money? What are some consequences of making financial mistakes?

Read Deuteronomy 28:12-14 and Proverbs 22:7. What do these passages teach you about being in debt and God’s people?

What is wrong with being in debt? How can debt lead to bondage? How have you personally experienced or seen the negative side effects of being indebted to someone of something?

What would you say our culture’s attitude is towards debt? Why?

What do you think life would be like if you were debt-free? If you are debt-free, how has it impacted your life? If you are debt-free, how did you do it?

Just as many people are in bondage to debt, so too, are many in bondage to sin. What does Jesus’ crucifixion do to cancel our debts, to redeem us, and to free us? What are some bible passage that might speak into this?

APPLY

In what ways can you practice generosity and pursue fostering a “lender” mentality?

What is one way your group can help each other practice being good stewards of the financial resources that God has given you?

PRAY

This week, prayerfully consider how you might be able to partner with us and God in where he is leading us as a church in regard to the freedom initiative.

NEXT STEPS

What we choose to leave behind says a lot about us. We all want our families, friends, and businesses to be secure and stable when we’re gone, so we set up wills, trust funds put all sorts of plans and strategies into place. But how often are we investing into the people, relationships, and decisions that have the potential to last for eternity? Here are some next steps to help you explore what it looks like to leave behind a worthwhile legacy:

To go deeper in your relationship with God and others, here are some next steps for you:
